U.S. Registered Importer List- US Government site which has a list by state of all U.S. approved Registered Importers (RI) who are authorized to modify non-conforming vehicles (Japanese cars or others) to USA specifications. The cost can be $5000 or more per vehicle and can take a lot of time. So in most cases it is not worth the effort to import regular Japanese or non-complying vehicles to the USA.
